Day Thirty-Seven
1 Thessalonians 5:17-22
Always be joyful; pray constantly; and for all things give thanks; this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not stifle the Spirit or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt; test everything and hold on to what is good and shun every form of evil.
Reflection
Joy should radiate from our lives, and it will act like a magnet, drawing souls to follow Jesus because they see the joy of the Lord shining through us. We are called to constant prayer. This will help us to be joyful and faithful to Christ at all times, even in violent temptations. We should also give thanks for all that we have received.
We should be open to the spiritual gifts God has given us and others, especially prophecy. The Lord has given each us of spiritual gifts that He wants us to use for building up His body, the church, on earth and for evangelization of the world. We are to exercise wisdom by testing everything. Unfortunately, we cannot trust every Christian preacher or teacher on tv, the internet, etc., as many have abandoned the truth of God in exchange for a lie. We should shun such teachings and teachers and pray for their conversion.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings you have given to me. I rejoice in your great love for me! Fill me more and more with your wisdom and discernment, that I might know what is good and what is evil.
Amen.
