Day Thirty-Two
Colossians 1:13-14
It is He [God the Father] who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness and tranferred us to the kingdom of the Son that He loves, and in Him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.
Reflection
God our Father is the ultimate "missionary" of merciful love: He loves us so much that He sent us His only beloved Son, whom He dearly loves, to be born in poverty and die on a cross for our salvation and rise triumphantly on the third day from the grave. We have been rescued from the kingdom of satan. The kingdom of the devil is full of darkness, but we have been transferred to the kingdom of light, the kingdom of Jesus, the Eternal Son of the Father.
One of the gifts of being in God's kingdom is freedom: especially freedom from sin! No longer do we have to be slaves to the world, our own fleshly passions or the devil's lies and empty promises; No, we have been set free by Jesus and His work on the cross and His resurrection! We should rejoice each day in this gift of salvation, a gift flowing from the merciful Heart of God.
Prayer
Thank you so much, loving Father, for your example of loving Your own Beloved Son and being willing to send Him to earth to suffer, die and rise for our salvation. Help us to love you deeply and love one another as Jesus has loved us.
Amen.
