Day Twenty-Eight
Ephesians 4: 1-2
I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you therefore to lead a life worthy of the vocation to which you were called. With all humility and gentleness, and with patience, support each other in love.
Reflection
We have all received a calling or vocation: it is a call to holiness and love. We are not isolated from one another: we are connected by the bonds of faith in Christ and baptism into his death and resurrection. We are members of the same family, God's family, the church. The foundation of humility is important to always remember, as well as gentleness and patience, as Paul points out.
Jesus said, "you did not choose me, I chose you." Jesus has chosen us to be his disciples, to bear good fruit and to love one another as He has loved us. As Missionaries of Merciful Love, we are called in a particular way to demonstrate God's mercy and love to one another and the world. To be a missionary is to be sent, and it is the Father who sends us, in the Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are sent on a mission of love to the world.
Prayer
I give myself completely to you, Lord, all I am, all I have, all I do belongs to you. Use me as you will, lead me where you will, transform my life into a pure reflection of your radiance. Let others encounter you when they encounter me. May I decrease and you increase, for the glory of your name.
Amen.
