Day Twenty-Two
2 Corinthians 13:11
We wish you joy; try to grow perfect; encourage one another; have a common mind and live in peace and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Reflection
Christians should be filled with joy because they know the love of God in Jesus Christ. Even in the midst of suffering we can experience deep joy from the Holy Spirit, sharing in the sufferings of Christ. We are to aim for perfection in the spiritual life, not mediocrity. We are companions on this journey and so should encourage each other.
Unity of mind and heart is so important for followers of Jesus, for He calls us to perfect union in love of mind, heart and soul. When we are in a right relationship with God and one another we can know true peace, a peace that the world cannot give. No amount of riches or material possessions can give peace, only God.
Prayer
I praise and worship you, Lord God, for calling me to a life of love and peace with my brothers and sisters. Please help me to reflect your love to all those I meet each day, be patient with them, and forgive those who have hurt me, in Jesus' name,
