Day Thirty-Five
1 Thessalonians 3:11-13
May the Lord increase and enrich your love for each other and for all, so that it matches ours for you. And may he so confirm your hearts in holiness that you may be blameless in the sight of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
Reflection
God desires to increase our love for one another and for the whole human race. Our first duty is love God with all we have got and love our brothers and sisters in Christ. Then we must love those outside the Christian community (the church), winning them to Jesus with the power of Christ's love and the testimony of our love for one another.
We are also called to holiness, to be pure in the sight of God, free from the stain of sin, ready to meet Jesus when He comes again in glory. Our hearts should be eager to receive Jesus when He comes, and not caught unexpectedly in a life of darkness. Each day is a day closer to the Lord's coming, and each day we should grow in love and holiness.
Prayer
Loving Father, increase the gift of love in my heart for You, for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and for the whole world. May I also grow in holiness day by day and be ready to meet Jesus, Your Son, when he comes again in glory.
