Day Twenty-Five
Ephesians 1:3 - 5
Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ. Thus he chose us in Christ before the world was made to be holy and faultless before him in love, marking us out for himself beforehand, to be adopted sons [and daughters], through Jesus Christ.
Reflection
God is worthy to be praised. He has blessed us incredibly through His Son Jesus Christ. We have received ALL the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ; not a few, not 75 %, no, ALL the spiritual blessings from heaven. One of those blessings is to be holy, truly holy and walking in freedom from a life of bondage to sin, slavery to the world, the flesh and the devil. Another blessing is love: to be in a relationship of love with our Creator and Redeemer and Sanctifier.
The Lord has adopted us, through baptism, as His sons and daughters in Jesus Christ. We have become heirs of eternal life. In fact, we already have eternal life in Christ Jesus right now. We are to behave as true sons and daughters of God while we journey to heaven during this life. We will suffer, we will be misunderstood, we will be judged, we will be hated, we may even be killed, but none of these things can remove us from the love of God in Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank you so much for your great love, which you give to us through your Son Jesus Christ and by filling us with your Spirit of love. Make us truly walk in holiness and love so that we might bring the light of the gospel to all the nations.
